Michael van de Velde became interested in photography at the age of 14. He began practicing Macro Photography with an Analog Camera and his dear friend, forester Kees Riemslag taught Michael the basics. This form of photography is very difficult to execute properly with live subjects in open air. The slightest wind can result in an unsharp photograph. Every setting had to be done manually, including the Focus. This began Michael's quest to photograph at the highest possible level with superb quality.

At the age of 18 Michael was a guest at The Official Belgian Ferrari Club, where he made his first contact with the race track. Motor Sport Photography became his next passion and it was only natural to merge his love of photography with his love of racing. Michael began to seriously study photography and excelled as the most progressive student in his class. His eye for detail sharpened and his skills continued to grow.

In 2007, Michael's final school exam was a free subject and he chose to photograph Italian Ferrari Challenge driver Sandro Mucelli. He headed to join Sandro for a racing weekend in Silverstone, England. Sandro arranged Michael a media accreditation. The final exam was a huge success!

In the years following that first encounter, Michael has had the pleasure of photographing some of the greats in Motor Sport: Bruno Senna, Gianmaria Bruni, Jaime Melo, Jean Alesi, Giancarlo Fisichella, Enrique Bernoldi, Lucas di Grassi, Vitali Petrov, Nico Hulkenberg, Kamui Kobayashi, Oliver Panis, Tom Kristensen, Felipe Massa, Michael Schumacher, Kimi Raikkonen, Jenson Button and Fernado Alonso. Michael's photographs can be seen in a variety of national and international magazines.

In 2009, Michael expanded his skills once again and began photographing local news items which can be viewed on ZieZeeland.nl.
